From the 14th to the 24th of November Amsterdam hosts for the first time the Young Pianist Festival, for young pianists aged 12-29. In a serious of rounds, ranging from eight final to the final, the best pianist for four different age groups will be chosen. The finals are on Sunday November 24, and tickets can be bought here. The venue is the Muziekgebouw aan ‘t IJ, a beautiful location along the waterside.

Next to the competition, a series of concerts and masterclasses are given during these days. I am planning to go to one of the masterclasses, namely the masterclass by Jorge Luis Prats on Saturday the 23rd. I expect that the concert by Severin von Eckardstein on the 15th will also be worthwhile going to.
